Introduction
The Disappearing Spoon presented at the Milan Design Week is a part of the exhibition Congress of Spoons. On this occasion, Samy has been interested in the role of the spoon and our relationship with this object.
Concept
The spoon has crossed history, being one of the first human-made tools. It was essential to the survival and the development of mankind, but although it is omnipresent in our daily life, it remains unnoticed today. Over time, it has hardly evolved, giving it its universal character. This video installation sacralizes a spinning spoon. This personified object is gradually metamorphosing to return to its original state, a banal puddle of liquid metal. Samy testifies here to the temporary nature of objects, allowing us to see them differently, not only as forms but also as matter.

The Disappearing Spoon présentée au Salon International du meuble de Milan figure au sein de l’exposition Congress of Spoons. Samy s’intéresse ici au rôle de la cuillère et à notre rapport avec cet objet.

La cuillère a traversé l’histoire, étant l’un des premiers outils à avoir été fabriqué par l’homme. Elle était essentielle à la survie et au développement de l’humanité, mais bien qu’omniprésente dans notre quotidien, elle passe aujourd’hui inaperçue. Au fil du temps, elle n’a que très peu évolué, ce qui lui donne son caractère universel. Cette installation vidéo sacralise une cuillère en mouvement. Cet objet personnifié, se métamorphose peu à peu pour retrouver son état initial, une banale flaque de métal liquide. Samy témoigne ici de la nature temporaire des objets, permettant de les voir différemment, pas seulement comme des formes mais aussi comme de la matière.
